Officer Xzevies Baez and K9 Rex
Titusville Police Department, FL
K9 Rex is a 2-year-old German Shepherd-Belgian Malinois mix. He was one of six puppies in a litter and was donated to the Titusville Police Department when he was about 4-months old. K9 Rex is one of the youngest canines in department history to participate and successfully complete the K9 school. His brother, Ranger, is another success story and has accomplished working EOC for the celebrity family show known as “Fixer Uppers”, in Texas.
Rex is driven and extremely motivated when it comes to his toys. He specifically enjoys his Kong toys and loves to play fetch.
During his tenure with TPD as a patrol K9 he has been deployed 44 times with 4 apprehensions. He has successfully located many narcotics. Here is a story from his handler, Officer Baez: I attempted to stop a vehicle occupied with three adult males. After a short pursuit the juveniles fled from the vehicle through residential area. Upon observing them fleeing from the vehicle and being out numbered I deployed my k9 partner and we pursued after them. Upon having unit converging to my area and hearing me warn them to stop or they would be bitten all three males surrendered. Having Rex by my side in during this incident demonstrates the importance and value of K9's in Law Enforcement. Having Rex I was able to successfully apprehend three suspects without any further incidents. A firearm was located and taken off the streets.

Gator is a 4-yearold German Shepherd from Czechoslovakia. The team is from Melbourne, Florida and has been together for 4 -years. The team enjoy the Space Coast Police K9 Competition and participates each year. Gator loves to eat french fries.

Steve Brown and K-9 Pipo
Butts County Sheriff’s Office, GA
K-9 Pipo is an 8-year-old German Shepherd-Malinois mix. He work for the Butts County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia. This team has been together for 6.5 years. In January, Pipo fell victim to a case of “bloat” and had to be rushed to the vet for emergency surgery. He recovered well and is still working hard. Pipo and the family pet, Lida, a German Shepherd, has 18 puppies between two litters. Deputy Brown says Pipo is still dodging child support.

Erron Carter and MWD Oori
United States Air Force, 45th Security Forces Squadron, Patrick Space Force Base, FL
Military Working Dog Oori is a 6-year-old Belgian Malinois. The team has been together for 3-months. Oori enjoys bite work, long walks on the beach and participating in high risk activities. Oori’s favorite toy is his tug! Oori placed 2nd in the 2021 Space Coast Police K-9 Competition with a different handler.

Jason Ciola and K-9 Rocket

K-9 Rocket is a 7.5-year-old Belgian Malinois. The team has been together for 6 years. Rocket loves playing fetch. This is their first year competing in the Space Coast Police K-9 Competition.

Lauren Donaldson and K9 Zeppelin

Zeppelin is a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois from Hungary. Deputy Donaldson was born in Las Vegas, NV and grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The team now lives in Melbourne, FL.
Zeppelin loves to roll in grass, and will turn anything into a toy, especially water bottles.
Zeppelin currently leads his unit with physical apprehensions, and Won Hard dog twice, once in 2022 and 2023 as well as fast dog in 2023
K9 Zeppelin recently made the news after an over zealous bridge jump thinking it was another obstacle to encounter in the field after a high risk traffic stop, and his handler Lauren pulled him to safety.

Patrick Flynn and K-9 Dret

K-9 Dret is a 3-year-old German Shepherd. The team has been together for 2-years. K-9 Dret loves to do bite work. This is their first year competing in the Space Coast Police K-9 Competition.

Joseph Heuser and K9 Nick
Leesburg Police Department, FL
K9 Nick is a 2-year-old German Shepherd. This team finished 2nd in the 2023 Space Coast Police K-9 Competition. K9 Officer Heuser is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and K9 Nick was bred in Central Florida. The team has been together for a little more than 2 years. K9 Nick is highly food and toy driven. His favorite activity is tracking with a long game of fetch once he gets to the end. K9 Nick's favorite treat is a Milk Bone and he requires one anytime he gets put up in his room.
K9 Nick has consistently led his agency's K9 unit in apprehensions and large narcoitc / trafficking finds including this year.
“Earlier this year K9 Nick and I were helping road patrol search for a wanted felon in a large section of woods. We had no success checking the area the suspect was believed to be and the attempt was cancelled. While we were working our way out of the woods , K9 Nick pulled away and began tracking on his own and led us hundreds of yards deeper into the woods, successfully locating the individual and taking him into custody.

Jonathan Hardy and MWD Ggriffin
United States Air Force, 45th Security Forces Squadron, Patrick Space Force Base, FL
Military Working Dog Ggriffin is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois. He and his human have been working together for 2-years. Ggriffin’s favorite activity is running on the beach and sleeping on comfortable hotel beds. This team has supported more than 40 USSS missions. They found an AK-47 with a banana clip and m18 pistol on someone trying to enter the home of Presidential Candidate Donald Trump.

Josh Hardy and K9 Richie

Deputy Hardy grew up in Temecula, CA and permanently moved to Brevard County in 2015. K9 Richie is from Hungary and came to the States in 2019 and the team has been together ever since.
K9 Richie is a driven and seasoned dog who thrives in chaotic situations.
K9 Richie has apprehended or assisted in the apprehension of dozens of violent suspects and wanted felons over his 6 year career.
Deputy Hardy was a sergeant in the United State Marine Corps

John Hubinger and K9 Jaeger

K-9 Jaeger is a 2-year-old Dutch Shepherd from Hungary. This team is from Mims, Florida and has been together for 1-year. Jaeger found 1/4-poud of meth on his first official drug sniff. K-9 Deputy Hubinger is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 2000-2006. He served as a nuclear power plant operator on submarines.

Military Working Dog Debra is a 4-year-old German Shepherd. This team has been together for 5-months. MWD Debra loves to work for her Kong toy. It is her strongest motivation. When she is not working, she loves long walks on the beach.

Military Working Dog Kkody is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois from San Antonio Texas. This team has been together for 2-months. Kody loves working for his toy.

Palm Bay Police Department, FL
K-9 Irish is a 3-year-old German Shepherd Dog. He and his human, Officer Manning, have been together for 7-months. K-9 Irish is very determined and highly driven during work and training. K-9 Irish loves playing fetch with his Kong during breaks at work.

K-9 Gator is a 4-year-old Malinois-Shepherd Mix. This team has been together for 3 years. K-9 Gator loves all kinds of toys and will do just about anything to play with one. Officer Morehead is veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is currently in the Reserves.

United State Air Force, 45th Security Forces Squadron, Patrick Space Force Base, FL
Military Working Dog Hugo is the 2023 Top Dog winner for the Space Coast Police K-9 Competition. Hugo and his human finished the obstacle course in less than two minutes. This team has been together for 1.5 years. In addition to being the Top Dog team of 2023, they are also fast rope certified and have served countless missions with the U.S. Secret Service in support of the president, vice president, and the first family.

Lee Roth and K-9 Lefty
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, FL
K-9 Lefty is a 5-year-old German Shepherd. He is from Slovakia. This team has been together for 4-years. Lefty is motivated by any toy or food. His favorite activity is tracking for criminal suspects. His favorite snack is Slim Jims.
Lefty has tracked and located a significant number of criminal suspects in his 4-year career so far. His first physical apprehension came at the conclusion of a very difficult tract for a suspect that was on the way to his mother’s residence with intentions of killing her. Thanks to Lefty, the suspect was located and apprehended before he could cause any harm.

K-9 Ranger is a 2.5-year-old German Shepherd Dog. This team has been together for 4-months. K-9 Ranger’s favorite toy is his Kong and he loves to play fetch in the back yard on his time off. This is his first year competing in this event.

K-9 Indie is a 3-year-old German Shepherd Dog from Hungary. This team has been together for 2-years. Indie loves to hunt down bad guys and spin like a tornado when he gets excited. Indie enjoys relaxing on his days off and playing with his frisbee in the backyard. Indie and Officer Teat have several apprehensions and drug seizures on their resume. The team was also nominated for the 2024 MADD Award. Officer Teat is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.

Matthew Waddington and K-9 Cairo
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, FL
K-9 Cairo is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois. the team has been together for 2-years. The recently won a K-9 Agility Course competition in 2023, taking 1st place. Cairo’s original owner mentored Deputy Waddington and sent him video of Cairo as a puppy. This helped Deputy Waddington learn how to train law enforcement canines.
