The Importance of Training

The Space Coast Police K-9 Competition is a training opportunity where the officer and K-9 navigate more than a dozen obstacles that are designed to mimic real world challenges a K-9 team will face on any given duty day. Participation in the event is free for each participating team and can count for up to 4 hours of training time.

Old Dominion K-9 Tracking Old Dominion K-9 hosts training for police K-9 teams at its camp in Appomatox, Virginia. The school teaches tracking and trailing techniques for successful search and rescue operations. The Space Coast Police K-9 Foundation will sponsor police K-9 teams based on availability of funds.

Decoy Training The Space Coast Police K-9 Foundation partnered with Far East K-9 training to host a training seminar for K-9 handlers to improve the way they perform in the role of decoy. Our hope is to host this training on an annual basis.
